Advocacy In the City

One of the BEST ways to spread mental health awareness and advocacy is to get out in your city or town and work with any organization that supports mental health. Another way is to bring a mental health component to an organization that’s different than your’s such as when we worked with the Jacksonville Coalition for Equality, supporting rights for employees in the city of Jacksonville. Our current legislation does job provide job protection for LGBTQ employees meaning they can be fired for sexual orientation or identity. SO HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO MENTAL HEALTH?

Job stress or lack of employment is one of the biggest triggers for mental health disorders. If someone is fired, they are at risk for depression, anxiety and more.

Another way to show support is to become certified in MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID. To find out more on how you can take this course, please visit their website by clicking HERE.
