22,000 happy and excited concert goers. Singing and dancing along to Jason Aldean. 15 minutes later. Their lives and ours have completely changed. Again.
We know it’s been a while since our last blog, but today seemed like the right time to write. Like many of you, I too have been stuck in this bottomless hole of Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria, NFL controversy, Charlottesville, Healthcare debates and who can remember what else. People suffering. Needing aid. People arguing free speech, patriotism, military respect and the unfair treatment of people of color. Protests. Marches. And now this.
There has been an unnatural increase in hurt, suffering, frustration, anger and pain over these past 3 months. Stress. Mental strain. Emotional fatigue. When will we get a break?
Having gone through Hurricane Irma and now watching two of my favorite places suffer, Puerto Rico and Las Vegas, has been painful on the soul. I’ve been reaching into my “mental bag of tricks” much more than ever before. I don’t have any answers. Just questions. And those questions, don’t seem to have readily available answers either.
So what do we do? How do we continue? How do we make sense of all this madness? I honestly don’t know. But I offer this…
I pray for the injured and all the lives lost in Vegas
I pray for the people of Puerto Rico who are suffering and needing aid
I pray for those on both sides of the NFL debate, that they can see the other side and understand each other’s beliefs
I pray for those in Texas and Florida who are still trying to rebuild and piece their lives back together
I pray for those in Charlottesville, that their town heals
I pray for everyone who may have struggled, felt lost, hopeless, or distraught during this difficult period
